Love Of Diagrams

Tuesday, May 8th, 2007

Hailing from Melbourne, Australia Love of Diagrams are rightfully drawing comparisons to Sonic Youth, Mission of Burma, and even Unwound. Call it ‘Post-punk’ or ‘Art Rock’ Love of Diagrams make catchy, if not dissonant, songs that are centered around pounding bass lines, angular guitars, and repetitive vocals. Maybe not for everyone, but it’s a formula that never ceases to get old for me when done well. It also doesn’t hurt when your album was recorded by Bob Weston (Mission Of Burma, Shellac) either. Mosaic was released last month on Matador Records.

Justice Wants You To Dance

Monday, May 7th, 2007

I just recently found out about the Parisian duo Justice (Gaspard Auge and Xavier de Rosnay) and really enjoy what I have heard so far. The Daft Punk comparisons are flying around left and right, but Justice definitely have a sound of their own. They seem to be a bit more unpolished and rock inspired compared to a lot of other electro dance outfits out there. It’s the type of sound that is hard not to enjoy. Especially with summer coming around the corner.

The group have recently released the official video for D.A.N.C.E. in anticipation to their debut full length album which is due out in the US later this summer on Vice Records.
